Hopkins has served over 1 million meals! In order to celebrate this milestone, our school nutrition staff at all school sites were surprised with cheers and applause on Feb. 22 for this incredible feat.
“We are celebrating the fact that our tremendous school nutrition staff have collectively served over 1 million meals in a little less than 9 months which is about 300,000 more than what we usually do in a whole year,” said Barb Mechura, director of student nutrition services.
Nutrition staff served meals during the entirety of distance learning. When hybrid learning began, they were preparing meals for both at home and in-person learners. Food has been delivered to the hands of students through critical home meal delivery, curbside service, weekend meal bags, in-school meals, and more.
“They just continue to rise above and do this awesome work and they see the kids,” Mechura said.
